Anna Peryga

Product Owner at Santander Bank Poland

We wanted to significantly increase our capacity and capabilities, so we knew we needed to find a partner who could help us achieve that. We found Pretius, and we are very happy with the collaboration. They have been helping us from the very beginning.
They taught us what APEX is, helped us set up the entire system, and provided us with inspiration. They are still with us today, so they are an important part of our story – and they will continue to be for some time. They are wonderful – truly a great partner.

This case study is based on a webinar with Oracle and Santander Bank.

Introducing the Client: Santander Bank Poland

Santander Bank Poland employs over 11,000 people. An organization of this size requires a well-organized and modern HR department. As Marcin Truskawa -Tribe Leader at Santander - mentioned in the webinar with Oracle, the goal was to create one of the best HR teams on the market — one that would make everyday work easier for all employees. To achieve this, they needed specific tools, automation, and real-time access to data.

The Critical Crossroads

  • Before the implementation of the new applications, many HR processes were highly manual and time-consuming.
  • Employees rarely provided feedback on completed training sessions, as the feedback collection process relied on emails and Excel spreadsheets, resulting in very low engagement, with only a 20% response rate.
  • Managers didn’t have a central place to quickly check the status and results of mandatory training for their teams.
  • Recruiters had to manually create reports on recruitment processes, often combining data from eight different files — a task that could take an entire workday.
  • The team also needed a tool to present KPI data in a clear and accessible way that could easily be shared with the executive board.

The Path to Modernization

To implement better solutions, Santander decided to partner with a technology provider — Pretius. Together, we established a collaboration model based on co-creation.

The application development team consisted of five people: three Oracle APEX developers from Pretius, and the remaining team members were Santander employees. This created a well-integrated, mixed team that not only built the applications but also learned from one another.

This working model allowed Santander to develop its own competencies in Oracle APEX without becoming fully dependent on an external provider. The external partner supports, inspires, and advises, but the internal team is capable of independently making changes and developing new features.

The Transformation Realized

Trainings App

The training application was integrated with the bank’s internal Learning Management System (LMS).

Data on both mandatory and optional trainings is updated daily. Employees can check which trainings they need to complete and view their full training history. Managers have access to their team’s training status — who has completed their courses and who hasn’t. The system also enables feedback collection for each training. HR departments can see average ratings, participant comments, and key metrics like the Net Promoter Score (NPS) for every course. All data is presented in clear, real-time reports that are accessible on demand.
Before:
  • Little to no feedback from employees — only a 20% response rate
  • No single tool to analyze training statistics
  • No unified system connecting employees, managers, and HR
After:
  • 55% training feedback response rate
  • Simple “one-click” tool that meets business needs
  • +64% increase in on-time completion of mandatory trainings
  • App integrated with LMS, with data updated daily

Recruitment Dashboard

An application designed for recruiters who need a simple and consistent tool to report the status of ongoing recruitment processes.

Every recruiter uses the same intuitive forms, which makes the work easier and ensures data consistency. Instead of building complex Excel sheets, reports are generated automatically — updating the data takes just 10 minutes per week. Historical data and visualizations are available with a single click. The first test version was ready in just 2 days, and the final production version was delivered one month after the project started.
Before:
  • 1 full day to combine data from 8 Excel files
  • 1.5 days to prepare data visualizations
  • 30–40 minutes weekly for manual data entry
  • 2 days to create a referral report
  • No access to historical data
After:
  • 10 minutes to generate a report, no Excel needed
  • Visualizations available with one click
  • 10 minutes weekly for data entry
  • Referral report ready in 40 minutes
  • Recruiters save 2–3 hours per week
  • Historical data available instantly

KPI Application

The KPI application organizes all key metrics in one place.

Instead of collecting data from multiple sources and analyzing it manually in Excel, the team now has access to a single source of truth — Oracle APEX. The system automates KPI calculations, and reports are ready for presentation to the management board. Qualitative data and statistics on the use of HR tools are available with just one click.
Before:
  • No consistent standard for data collection
  • 4 data sources, 3 massive Excel files
  • 2 hours per quarter spent on analysis and visualizations
After:
  • Data available with a single click
  • One source of truth – APEX
  • Automated KPI calculations
  • All statistics in one place
