Play is one of the largest telecommunications companies in Poland. More than 15M clients use their services, and this number is constantly growing. Before this project started, Play employees had to use Excel to manually configure custom offers for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). It was time-consuming and negatively affected Play’s time-to-market. What’s more, there was no easy way to report and archive these offers. Thus, the company decided to invest in a new tool that would automate the whole process of creating custom B2B offers – integrated with existing internal product catalog and sales systems.
After analyzing the company’s business needs, Pretius created SME Tool, a new custom CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) system with new functionalities but based on Excel components (thanks to a JXpath library integration). SME Tool is integrated with the product catalog so Play employees can create custom offers for individual clients using existing components. These offers can then be modified with new parameters such as data packages, roaming packages and discounts, depending on the B2B client’s needs. The next step is verification. The system automatically checks whether the newly created offer complies with validations defined by the company in the system configuration. If the offer doesn’t meet the defined limits, the system informs the employee what kind of validation is exceeded. Then, the offer can be automatically accepted by the employee (if it meets the requirements) or it’s sent to the supervisor for review. In the last step, the offer is created and transferred to the sales system.
Thanks to the new CPQ system, Play improved the process of creating custom offers for SME clients. This translated into a better time-to-market: new offers can be introduced to the customer in a matter of minutes, instead of hours, as the verification process now requires only 30 seconds. What’s more, the entire process was centralized, which enabled the company to report and archive all offers. Till now, Play managed to create over 1M new custom offers, and this number is still growing. Pretius continues to work with Play and maintain the SME Tool system.
